Chandelle is a female gremlin, or fifinella. Unlike male gremlins, lady gremlins protect airplanes, machines, and the humans who use them.
Fifinellas are chronicled in Roald Dahl's book about gremlins. They were also famously drawn by the Disney company and used as the logo of the WWII Women's Air Service Pilots.
The Fifinella is an homage character.
